Invitation

Organised by

  • Faculty of Mathematics and Computation, University of Havana, Cuba.
  • Institute of Cybernetics, Mathematics and Physics of the Academy of Sciences of Cuba.
  • Institute of Mechanics, Technical University Berlin, Germany.

The objective of this meeting is to facilitate exchange of ideas and experiences between researchers, professors, students from Latin-America with their colleagues from Europe, Asia, and North-America. We hope that this meeting generates a cordial and relaxed atmosphere for work and exchange. Cuba is known for its touristic opportunities, including eco-tourism, its colourful cultural and literary heritage, and its deep historical interest.

There exist antecedents of exchanges between Latin-American research and outside groups, which have been developed as a result of these type of scientific meetings. Lectures will be invited from prominent and internationally recognised researchers from Latin-American and European countries. Scientists from outside Europe and Latin-America are also cordially invited to participate. Besides invited talks, participants are encouraged to give contributed talks within the general scope of the meeting.

This will be the second conference centred around topics of mechanics and its applications. The conference will consist of expository talks with a duration of 20 - 30 min each. We expect to have a series of lectures devoted to different research fields of theoretical and applied mechanics. The main topics of the conference are

  • fluid mechanics
  • solid mechanics
  • vibrations and wave propagation
  • new materials and material modelling
  • computational mechanics

and others.
